I was on retreat this week from Monday to Friday. In addition to reading, praying, listening to music, sleeping and walking I also always bring along at least one book on heraldry and a pad and pen. I did do quite a bit of writing as well but I always spend part of the day drawing just to relax and occupy my hands.
Below are the fruits of my meditations/doodles. They're on lined yellow paper because all I had with me was a legal pad. The first is a fictional coat of arms of a bishop (hence, no motto). The arms of the see in the dexter impalement are those of the diocese of Trenton. I used those because they'll be getting a new bishop this year when their current one retires. The rest I made up.
Below that is a version (I know...YET another one) of my own coat of arms. I was really rather pleased with the way these came out. So much for measuring, ruling and compass. These were done free hand (albeit on lined paper which does make it easier). I hope you like them.

Fr. Guy, these are beautifully rendered. I especially like the attention to line weight, that is the heavier outline of some shapes with lighter strokes
for details within. Nice visual textures with the way you depict the fibers of the cords and knots.

Yes, drawn by a true artist. The designs are relatively 'simple' when compared with most other ecclesiastical designs and I like that.
